Key Responsibilities in Security Leadership, Risk Management, and Culture
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive security strategy aligned with organisational objectives and UK legislation.
- Lead, mentor, and support the security team, championing a culture of vigilance, professionalism, and continuous development.
- Oversee physical, digital, and information security programmes, identifying vulnerabilities, prioritising risks, and coordinating mitigation strategies.
- Act as a primary contact for all security matters, including crisis management, incident response, and business continuity planning.
- Drive regular security risk assessments, audits, and reviews across company premises, systems, and operations.
- Collaborate closely with IT, HR, facilities, and wider business units to ensure consistent application of security policies and protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards relating to data protection, privacy, and organisational security.
- Manage vendor relationships and oversee procurement of security solutions to ensure value, effectiveness, and alignment with requirements.
- Deliver engaging security awareness training, fostering a proactive approach to safeguarding organisational interests at every level.
Essential Skills and Experience for Security Management Roles
- Substantial experience in developing and implementing security programmes within complex or multi-site organisations.
- Strong knowledge of UK security regulations, industry best practices, and risk management frameworks.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate teams while building an inclusive, high-performance culture.
- Track record in managing incidents, investigations, and crisis response with professionalism and calm under pressure.
- Experience with both physical security systems (access control, CCTV, alarm monitoring) and digital information security controls.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities, with attention to emerging threats and trends.
- Effective communicator with the ability to train, influence, and partner with individuals at all levels.
- Integrity, resilience, and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
Qualifications for Senior Security and Risk Leadership
- Relevant professional security qualifications (e.g. CPP, PSP, CISSP, CISM, or equivalent experience) are highly regarded.
- Comprehensive knowledge of GDPR, Health & Safety, and data protection obligations within the UK.
- Ongoing commitment to professional development and staying ahead of new security technologies and regulatory changes.
